We
are expanding our range of fibres and associated craft products to
meet a growing demand from people wishing to extend their
knowledge, skills and creations in textile art - from the classic
to the exotic, but all highly individual and proudly
handmade!
Our range of European yarns is
always changing - it's worth a visit to see what's new!
We also carry the more
traditional brands such as Patons, Cleckheaton and Shepherd
yarns.
And even if we don't stock it as
a standard yarn, usually we can still order it in for
you.
Inspired
by exotic yarn colours and textures "non-crafty" people often have
the desire, but not the skills, to create their own individual
textile pieces. Now they can stop "wishing" and start "doing" with
the help of a new soluble fabric and basic machine-stitching. Wool,
silk, mohair and synthetic fibres in twisted, fluffy, loopy and
brushed yarns, fabric scraps and ribbons can all be combined and
transformed into lovely, whimsical texture and colour DIY
masterpieces! Fantasy Scarf kits are available now in all sorts of
glorious colours.
Be
inspired to play with the multi-coloured Opal sockwool - a truly
amazing product, great for a lightweight project in mild weather,
or a 'quick knitting fix' in the cooler seasons. The four-ply
woollen sock yarn, with some polyamide and lycra for added wear,
shape and stretch, is space-dyed to an approximate 70m repeat.
Using a basic sock pattern, the knitter is rewarded with a bright,
intricate fair-isle pattern sock - an astonishing effect for
minimal effort. New to our shop last winter, it is an increasingly
popular project, with new season's colours now available. (If you
get to visit Bairnsdale, try spotting who's wearing Opal socks -
these days there's quite a few pairs of happy feet wandering around
town). Opal sockwool is available in 4 and 6 ply, and we're happy
to give you a free pattern for socks (or fingerless mittens, or a
cute little hat...) with every purchase. Back
