JUMBUK
WOOLS - AN AUSSIE ICON!

Innovative
in our origins over 30 years ago , at Jumbuk Wools we continue to
produce our excellent products today. The uniquely greasy
Jumbuk Wool is achieved by washing the fleece lightly, not
subjecting it to scouring, carbonisation or any other harsh
chemical process.
The natural
lanolin left in the wool enhances the natural properties of the
fibre, giving extra wear, warmth and water resistancy, while
retaining an overall softness.
At Jumbuk
Wools we have always featured the natural undyed colours of
creamy-white (LH top), silver-grey (RH top),
darker-grey
(LH lower), and charcoal-brown (RH lower).
We also
stock a spectacular range of hand-dyed, multi-toned colours of
Jumbuk Wool, as well as many other yarn fibre, texture and colour
mixtures, all which complement with, or contrast to, our natural
shades.
PLY
AND TENSION DETAILS
Jumbuk Wool
handknitting yarns are slightly thicker then many other commercial
yarns so we
tend to
refer to them as Gold, Blue and Brown Label, not ply, to avoid
confusion with
knitting
patterns using other yarns.
The colour
of the printing on the ball label denotes the wool
thickness.
"Gold
Label" is approx. 5 ply.
Suggested
tension is 24 sts and 32 rows to 10 cm using 3.75 mm ndls, in
Stocking stitch.
"Blue"Label"
is approx 8 ply.
Suggested
tension is 20 sts and 26 rows to 10 cm using 4.5 mm ndls, in
Stocking stitch.
"Brown
Label" is approx 12 ply.
Suggested
tension is 16 sts and 21 rows to 10 cm using 5.5 mm ndls, in
Stocking stitch.
We have a
range of pattern books and pattern leaflets suitable for our wools
- projects include jumpers, cardigans, vests and sleeveless
pullovers, shawls, beanies, scarves, and socks, as well as some
special ideas including "Kangaroo boots" and a
"Curly-Tail Possum scarf".
(we're
hoping to get pictures on line soon for all our
patterns)
